Treating
incontinence and pelvic pain
Incontinence, the loss of bladder or bowel control, is not a disease but
a symptom of other underlying disorders. Women of all ages, whether they
have borne children or not, experience incontinence.
Pelvic pain that makes it difficult to sit, causes pain with intercourse,
or pain in the hips, lower abdomen or lower back may be caused by spasms of
the muscles that support the bladder, uterus and rectum.
The good news is that the majority of women can be successfully treated
for these problems without undergoing surgery. Rehabilitation treatment
options at the Aurora Health Center in Fond du Lac are offered by a physical
therapist who specializes in treating women's health issues, specifically
incontinence and pelvic pain. The non-invasive techniques she uses include
exercise, biofeedback, relaxation techniques and others.
If you experiencing symptoms of incontinence or pelvic pain and would
like to find out if you are candidate for these non-surgical treatment
options, ask your Aurora Health Care provider or call 920-907-7000.
